After dealing with cloud cover, heavy areas of smoke and lower air quality, and some sprinkles this week, we are finally going to enjoy a beautiful weekend. A stronger ridge of high pressure will build in, which will help clear out the skies and allow for this spectacular weekend. If you are on the edge of making outdoor plans, I would suggest you to move forward with those plans because it is not a guarantee we will have a dry and warm summer weekend again, especially with fall just around the corner!

SURFACE PRESSURE MAP

We will see a beautiful weekend across the state, which is due to the big blue ‘H’ on the map. High pressure! With high-pressure systems, we see drier, sinking air, leading to, in many cases, no precipitation and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. This will be the case this weekend, with expect mostly dry conditions, marking a beautiful summer weekend in early August!

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8TH:

Friday will begin our weekend on a sunny note! High temperatures will be around average, ranging from the upper-70s to low-80s. It will be the perfect way to end the workweek and start our weekend. Dew points will remain on the comfortable side as well, so there is nothing to complain about! Pittsburgh will be our warmest city on Friday, with a high temperature currently expected at 84 degrees.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH:

Saturday will be another wonderful day. Expect mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, with temperatures a little warmer compared to Friday. The humidity should remain on the comfortable side to slightly muggy side as well, with dew point values in the upper-50s to low-60s. Pittsburgh looks to be our warmest city as well, with a peak high temperature of 87 degrees!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 10TH:

Sunday with be another picture-perfect day. It may be a smidge warmer than Saturday, but still many areas will climb into the low-to-mid 80s. It is still expected to be overly comfortable, with dew points likely in the low-to-mid 60s, but it may begin to feel a little bit humid (especially across western Pennsylvania). Pittsburgh looks to take the crown for the warmest city this weekend, with a peak high temperature of 87 degrees once again!

PRECIPITATION MAP

Welcome, everyone! My name is Denys Khrulov, and I am a degreed meteorologist from the Pennsylvania State University. I have had a passion for meteorology since the February 2010 'Snowmaggedon', which dumped over 40 inches of snow in two weeks to my hometown of Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Ever since then, I've grown curious about the weather! During elementary school, I created a small Facebook page, previously known as 'Pittsburgh's Weather Channel' to bring weather updates to my family and school friends. This later evolved into 'Weatherx17' during my middle school and high school years, before having a name change to PA Weather Plus during my first year in college. During college, the page has grown to over 100,000 followers, and I officially established it as an LLC in August of 2024. I am excited to see the continued growth of this page and I cannot thank everyone for all of their continued support!
