Incoming Showers and Flakes, Tuesday February 25

A quick-moving disturbance will bring a mix of rain and snow showers to the Commonwealth on Tuesday, February 25th. While it will not be a complete washout, with the numerous rain showers expected, it will not be a bad idea to keep your rain gear at hand throughout the day.

FUTURE SIMULATED RADAR:

Rain showers will break out across the region by early Tuesday morning and stick around the for remainder of the morning and afternoon hours. With some cold air near the surface, the higher elevations of the northwestern PA plateau and ridgetops may experience a period of wet snowflakes, with overall snowfall accumulations under a half inch on elevated surfaces. Road temperatures will be too warm to support any snowfall accumulations. The system will begin to move out by the late afternoon hours, leaving us with a few isolated rain showers.

RAINFALL AMOUNTS:

Rainfall amounts are expected to remain on the lower side, somewhere between a tenth to a quarter of an inch for most locations. For others, expect a trace to a tenth of an inch of rainfall. This will not be a lot of rain so it will not really be beneficial for moisture content in terms of relieving drought for portions of the state.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS:

A quick coating to half inch of snow will be possible in the outlined circle across portions of northwestern Pennsylvania during the afternoon hours tomorrow. Due to the warmer surface temperatures and conditions, this will more likely occur on ridgetops and on elevated surfaces. Road conditions should not become affected by these snowfall accumulations.

TUESDAY HIGH TEMPERATURES:

In terms of overall high temperatures, tomorrow will be on the milder side with high temperatures climbing into the 40s and 50s for most locations. Wednesday will feature even warmer conditions, with most areas climbing into the 50s and possibly low-60s. It sure feels nice after the prolonged arctic cold we experienced last week. Enjoy the milder weather and do not forget your umbrellas tomorrow. Stay tuned and reach out if you have any questions and/or concerns!
