About the Founder, Denys Khrulov

Welcome, everyone! My name is Denys Khrulov, and I am a degreed meteorologist, proudly graduating from The Pennsylvania State University in May 2025.

My passion for weather began during the historic February 2010 “Snowmageddon” event, when more than 40 inches of snow fell over just two weeks in my hometown of Charleroi, Pennsylvania. That unforgettable winter sparked a deep curiosity about the atmosphere and how extreme weather impacts everyday life. I was hooked by that moment.

While still in elementary school, I created a small Facebook page—originally called “Pittsburgh’s Weather Channel”—to share weather updates with my family and school friends. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into something much bigger. Throughout middle school and high school, the page evolved into Weatherx17, as I continued learning, forecasting, and growing my audience.

During my first year of college, I rebranded the page as PA Weather Plus, focusing on delivering clear, accurate, and timely weather information to communities throughout Pennsylvania. I remained fully committed to keeping people informed, especially during impactful weather events. Balancing 18 credit semesters, holding club executive positions, training for marathons, while building a personal brand was not an easy task, but in the end, well-rewarding.

Throughout my college years, PA Weather Plus experienced tremendous growth, surpassing 100,000 followers. In August 2024, I officially established PA Weather Plus, LLC, turning a lifelong passion into a professional weather platform.

I’m incredibly excited to continue growing this page, expanding coverage, and serving the people of Pennsylvania. None of this would be possible without the amazing support from this community, and I cannot thank you all enough for being part of this journey. The best is still ahead!
